Open Division Season 30 Power Rankings: Pre-season
1 Seafoam (Seafoam)
Yeah, ummm this team is absolutely stacked. How did we let this happen? Ben has unlimited weapons with captain Paul W., Cash M., Jay W., Drew C. & Dan K. They also have some of the top rushers in the league with Chris RR. Someone (Jay) is turning the big 3-0 this year right around the first week of playoffs and will be absent that week however. If this squad manages to sneak their way through the first weekend of playoffs and get Jay back for the final four - yeah, good luck beating this team.
Now, this is all if injury prone Jay & Dan K. are able to stay healthy for a full season… can someone check if that’s ever happened for these two? The Ben & Paul duo has made it all the way to the championship before and fell just short—this could be their season to come out on top.

2 Olive (Olive)
This team led by first time captain Jamal L is starting off the season with 2 questionable hamstrings, a fractured foot & a torn MCL. Let’s just say Olive will be short handed to start the season with multiple players on the injury report. While grandmothers Jeremy S & Alonzo M will surely need to get their rest and avoid stepping on the field for now, they confirmed they WILL be on the sidelines doing some sort of mix of drinking, yelling, coaching & providing some words of encouragement. At least make sure your knee braces and walking boot match your outfits.
Balanced with both league vets (New Body-ody Shaq B, Kenny J) and rookies (Phillip W, Andrew M, Brandon O, Nick K), I predict this team to start slow but finish strong late into the season and playoffs.

3 Lime Green (Lime Green)
Commissioner Cam is back and healthy after a successful offseason thumb surgery and is ready to jump back into all of the sports. This team has a strong receiver core of Twon H., Everett W. & I guess Tyler L. They also have A LOT of rookies playing this season, Branden S,, Terill T, Mike Z, among others. I see the vision, and I’m curious to see if captain Jens P. can bring his championship experience to this rather inexperienced team. I also hear Twon is listed as “questionable” on the week 1 injury report for a broken heart after not being drafted by AJ this season. Here’s to hoping Cam handles his team’s season better than he did the microphone at TAP. IYKYK.
Live look at Twon post draft:

4 Vintage Gray (Vintage Gray)
This vintage gray squad has a lot of attitude at the top and a take-no-BS captain in Michael B. When AJ has one of his 4 interception games, Michael is going to let him hear it. This is a very AJ-esque team with a few familiar faces/past teammates around him which has proven to be a successful recipe for him. Rookie standout Curtis S had a lot of captains’ attention during the workshops and could be a huge difference maker this season. This team has a high upside, but could they be a flop?

5 Light Blue (Light Blue)
This team is giving “team bestie” with 2nd season QB Matt R., reigning MVP Juan V., and TJ C. I just know Alex David from Forest is feeling left out. This will be a much different season for Juan however as it’s very unlikely he will get the same amount of touches that he did last season due to having a QB that actually likes to spread the ball around. This is also one of the youngest rosters in the league and it’s very clear this team’s leadership does NOT associate with, or support, the elderly. Juan really said “IM THE VET” aka “Unc” of this squad. Also tea is that QB Matt R. is already abandoning his team for week 1 in a matchup vs Lime this week. Yeah I don’t think this is going to go well for you all (at least in week 1).

6 Gold (Gold)
Matt C., Bryan S. & Connor T. are all back after taking a season off from the league. Even Nolan is joining this season at the beginning of the year instead of during supplemental. Will taking the previous season off for half of this team have them coming in refreshed? I predict not. Sure, they have the offensive talent and experience to keep them afloat but the question is who will step up on defense? I don’t see this team stopping anybody. I still have this group ranked at #6 purely based on football IQ.

7 Maroon (Maroon)
Captain and reigning defensive MVP Trey P. and QB Andrew A. pair up for the second consecutive season with an entirely different squad. Not a single player from last season is on this team. Where is the loyalty? Either way, this squad is stacked with receivers including Nick W., Aaron B., Josh K. (welcome back!) and Benny K. How many times per game is Aaron going to call for a jump ball in the huddle? I’m going to bet the over on that one no matter the number. And while Trey and Andrew had *some* success last season, as a league we have to say: if this captain/QB duo doesn’t find *more* success this season, it may be time to let this romance go, or at LEAST take a break. We’ve seen enough.

8 White (White)
This has to be one of the slowest (I’m talking team speed) teams ever assembled in DCGFFL history. I’d love to see this team’s average 40 yard time, but unfortunately it would take several months for the whole team to complete the dash. Granted there are some very good players on this team that can make an impact on both sides of the ball. But Oriya baby, I would go ahead and remove any fly or post routes out of your playbook this season because I have a feeling your receivers are going to straight up tell you “NO” in the huddle if asked. Best they are going to do is give you 50% on one of those. This team does have a lot of veterans however led by captain Derrick J, and I hope I’m still invited to the on the field cookout this season after this.

9 Forest Green (Forest Green)
First time captain AND quarterback, Alex & Luie are ready to move past their disappointing Fall 2025 seasons and prove themselves in their new roles this year. Now my main concern for this team is how their QB is going to be able to see over his very tall offensive line anchored by Marc K. And the crazy thing is they don’t even have to be that tall for this to be an issue. I don’t predict Luie to spend much time in the pocket this season and is going to have rushers from the other teams fighting for their lives every play. This squad has a lot of talent and if Luie is able to play anything like he did last season at back up QB, this team could be dangerous. Gerel, Justin, Charles, Ricky - make sure you all get your cardio in every week because you all will be running around A LOT as your QB will be prancing around frantically waiting for one of you to get open.

10 Atomic Blue (Atomic Blue)
This may be one of the nicest and kind hearted teams I’ve ever seen. I want to hang out with this team. Unfortunately, a kind heart doesn’t win you football games. I think this group has the talent to have a good season IF everyone (Tiger) stays healthy…are there any more bones left to break?
Austin P. knows how to win tough games and was able to snag some talented rookies in the draft, and it would be rude of me to count this team out already, so I’ll steal some of this teams vibes and practice being nice and just end with - good luck, be safe and have fun!

11 Navy (Navy)
Mark H clearly has not let go of the AARP travel team Generals reunion in Sunshine Cup a few weeks ago, as they have four ex-Generals players on this squad. I think Father Time has already done a number on these individuals though given the already sustained injuries and the amount of courage and strength they need to muster simply to walk up and down stairs, hobble down the street, or let alone get out of a chair. Hopefully veteran captain Matt H., rising star Bryan W. and rookie DKIII can bring some fresh energy to this team. This is another team I foresee struggling on the defensive end and will need to score a lot of points or manage time of possession to stay in games.

12 Cobalt (Cobalt)
I will admit this pairing of team leaders made me gasp. On one hand we have our beloved Ref Director and avid rule follower Andrew H, and on the other, we have every ref’s most “creative” critic in Daniel H. I can’t wait to see how this shakes out. Lorddd I do not want to be a referee for any of this team’s games. Imagine being yelled at AND being calmly corrected on the rules at the same time. I think I speak collectively for all refs that we should be paid double for these games to account for emotional damages. All jokes aside - this team is very well rounded, Morgan W. (who once again is enjoying a luxurious vacation pre-season - maybe preparing for the chaos yet to come?), Alex P., Patrick S., Chantis P., and if they can stay healthy, this could be a dangerous team come playoffs.

13 Kelly Green (Kelly Green)
Veteran QB Jim Connolly and Captain Brandon M. lead Kelly Green. Kevin H is coming off yet another MVP nominated season, star Chad H. is back for his second season and veterans Michael A., Luke B., Scott G., Michael O., Adam M. & Tim A. bring in their many years of experience to round out the team. Now, the bad — who is going to play safety?? This team better hope their offense gets into a good rhythm because I have a feeling this defense is going to get COOKED all season long.

14 Coral (Coral)
Chris D. enters his second season at QB led by rookie captain Andrew G. (Andrew I miss you, please come back)…This team has a lot of talent led by Chad M., Art H., and veterans Aaron B. & Andrew G., it looks like Chris may have even lobbied the whole draft room in order to select his brother, Kevin D. Let’s see how round 2 of QB goes for Chris as he clearly showed improvement towards the end of last season and wants to prove he can be a top QB in the league. Considering I still haven’t seen an instagram post of a newly purchased football or brand new cleats for season 30, should we begin to question his passion for the game?

15 Blue Wake (Blue Wake)
Welcome Zach M. to his first ever season at QB in the DCGFFL, and boy does he have some weapons at receiver to dish the ball to in Jordan A., Ryan W. & 4x volleyball champ Brandon R. However, once again, Brandon will be missing playoffs. Like — have you ever considered picking a different date, or are we going to do this every season? Anyway, rumor has it QB Zach has been downing margaritas and drawing up plays in preparation for his debut during his well-timed vacation in El Salvador. Let’s hope veteran captain Pete D. can keep this team’s morale high just in case Zach’s margarita inspired playbook goes sideways.

Our DCGFFL Forever Family
This league vet graduated from The University of Michigan’s nuclear engineering department (and just so happens to be a member of Atomic Blue this season…) has now played in 8 seasons, has had two final 4 appearances and has even opened his home to amateur drag queens at mid season drag shows. His favorite drink is a Mezcal Margarita and you may see him sipping one on the fields this season.
The DCGFFL Open Division’s one and ONLY forever family member this season - coming in at 16 in the power rankings is ALEX ENGLESBE.

I just know many of yall will have a HEAVY attendance here this season post Sunday Funday. Make sure you download the app to earn points.

18 Purple (Purple)
I couldn’t wait to write this team’s power rankings. This team’s captain/QB duo has been cocky and talking championship as soon as they were paired. I can’t fully blame them though, either Wyatt or Jordan have been a part of the last 3 championship teams. Pretty hard to believe…
Anyway, this team has a lot of very nice humans that in most scenarios I would be a huge fan. But no. This season I am Purple’s #1 hater. Is it jealousy? Maybe. But you all just don’t understand the amount of texts and side comments I will receive if these two win another championship. We simply cannot allow this to happen. Sorry to the rookies on this team, you’re just a part of this now. This also marks the second season in a row where we have two brothers on the same team, welcome to the new Mahoney brother! Does Wyatt complete his threepeat this season and shut me up for good? Absolutely not. [Editor’s note: shutting JC up for good would be a remarkable public service.]
