Women's+ Season 7 Power Rankings: Week 4

1 Purple Reign (Purple Heather) 4-0

Still undefeated. Still unbothered. Queen behavior, because she who wins the games wears the crown, and we suspect Purple has no plans of taking it off anytime soon.

Let this be a lesson to all who face them next: you’re not stopping Purple by keying in on one player—they still simply have too many ways to beat you. Amanda L., Nour, and Mariam all found the end zone, with Elle Capitan adding a two-point try for good measure.

And if you think you can outscore them…well, you better watch out for Player of the Week Mariam and Linda P. who will make sure that’s never an option. These two stood on business last Sunday, snagging interceptions that sealed Purple’s lead and stripped whatever last remnants of hope our tarnished little Gold Stars had left.

Next up, they’ll face off against the red flags, and maybe this game can deliver the upset so many of us so badly want to see

2 Gold Stars (Vegas Gold) 3-1

After flirting with the top spot all season, the Purple Reign reminded the Gold Stars that the house always wins.

Alaya W. did everything she could to keep them in it — two TDs and a try — continuing her campaign as one of the most dangerous players in the league. And for a moment, it felt like that might be enough…but when Gold tried to go “Lowe” at the end, Linda P—Purple’s pint sized defender—went high (but like not that high because the ball was thrown right to her). That plus some suffocating coverage (which some might claim was heavy on the pass interference) pretty much sealed it.

If there was a team to take Gold down, it was likely going to be the one they’ve been trading that top spot with all season. Although they were just a step behind, they’re still dangerous and firmly in the mix for the top spot. With the Smoke Shows up next, we expect them to come out sharp and looking to get back in the win column.

3 Red Flags (Scarlet Heather) 3-1

Red said: let’s keep this efficient. And so will we.

A 14–6 win over Green isn’t flashy, but it’s exactly what it needed to be. The rush showed up (as it usually does), and the offense did just enough to stay in control — which, for this team, continues to be the theme.

And then there’s Sonali D., Rookie of the Week, quietly doing a little bit of everything — a TD, an INT, and a reminder that Red has depth that doesn’t always make headlines but absolutely makes a difference.

Not dominant. Not messy. Just handling business—which is very beige, or dare we say…green flag behavior. Though we are sure they’ll go back to their old ways when they face off against the top team, Purple Reign.

4 Smoke Shows (Smoke Grey) 2-2

In another déjà vu matchup—this week between Smoke Grey and Texas Orange—Grey flipped the script and this time walked away with the win. And, of course, they made sure we got our money’s worth by sending the game into OT (as these perfect weather days suspiciously continue to produce).

Unlike their first meeting, both teams actually came ready to score, making this a far more competitive and high-scoring game. And when it mattered, Grey delivered. The usual playmakers showed up. Kendall stayed reliable with strong catches. Em (the game’s MVP) Aubrie and Maria each added touchdowns to keep things moving. Renee was consistent with flag pulls at key moments. Even the Smokey’s captain KP kept the sideline alert (clipboard in hand), coaching with a level of intensity that would make Kim Mulkey proud.

Big moments came, and this time, Grey didn’t fold, they finished. Now the question is whether that version of Grey can show up again in Week Five when they take on the Gold Stars.

5 Super Soakers (Tropic Blue) 1-3

Soak ‘em up, get ‘em nice and wet… but maybe also… finish the job?

The Super Soakers came in thinking they were about to hand out a sequel to last week’s beatdown. Confidence was high — maybe a little too high. Yeah, they ran it up the first time. But round two didn’t go the same way, and instead of running it back, they walked away holding the L.

And to be fair — it was close. Kori made an immediate impact with a score in their first game back and was just as disruptive on the rush alongside a timely sack from Sam C. Bre also capitalized on mistakes from Black’s offense, coming up with a clutch INT that stopped a near-certain touchdown and kept the game from getting out of hand. But Black had their number this time around, especially blowing up those pitch plays before they could ever get going and forcing Blue out of rhythm just enough to make the difference.

So consider this your warning: every week is a new one. Play like the job’s already done, and you’ll keep getting reminded it isn’t. Hopefully the Super Soakers keep this in mind ahead of their next match up, when they take on Texas Orange.

6 Orange is the New Sack (Texas Orange) 1-3

Word on the street is that Orange is the New Sack lived up to their namesake and logo by deciding to play by prison rules — complete with a few unnecessary roughness calls and enough extra contact to keep players on their toes… just so they could knock them right back off moments later.

Orange made their presence felt on both sides of the ball, with contributions coming from everywhere. Rachel B. found the end zone, Cecilia P. doubled down with two TDs of her own, Katie M. came through to tack on the extra point, and QB Courtney M. kept the offense composed and moving. Anisa kept the pressure on with two sacks, anchoring a defensive effort that held strong all game. It was a true team showing that pushed things into OT — much to the dismay of the players, sideline spectators, and especially the refs, who were ready to wrap it up and go grab a slice of pizza (true story).

Next up: Orange faces Tropic Blue in another matchup expected to be physical.

7 Grim ReapHers (Black)

The ReapHers finally ate their Wheaties, and as it turns out, the solution wasn’t a supplemental pick at all. After getting blown out by Blue just a week ago, Black flipped the script completely, taking the rematch down to the final whistle and edging out a one-point win.

It was a battle from start to finish, and while the stat sheet may have been quiet for some (looking at you, Cash 👀), this one was a true team effort. While Tropic Blue spent much of the game playing keep away from Black’s lucky charm, the rest of the squad stepped up to show they were just as dangerous — with Ash H. finding the end zone, Tori S. making her presence felt on both sides of the ball with a TD and INT, and two more momentum shifting INTs from Amanda M. and Brittany L.

They finally closed one out on top and brought their season back to life — now the only thing left to do is revive their post-game chant. Hopefully they can get that figured out before their next matchup against the Green Line Fire.

8 Green Line Fire (Turf Green) 1-3

Welp. Here we are. Dead last. Not even going to ease into it.

Green takes a tough tumble this week after a loss to Red in a game that somehow felt closer than it actually was. Maya L. said “fine, I’ll do it myself” and proceeded to do exactly that — putting up a touchdown and an interception and handling business on both sides of the ball. Offense, defense, fashion sense… what can’t she do?

This game should’ve been sponsored by “turnover on downs,” but we’ll be kind and call it an off week. A very generous off week.

The good news: Green is somehow still tied in record with three other teams, which feels like a statistical miracle. The bad news: if this keeps turning into the Maya L. show featuring occasional guest appearances, they’re going to stay right here.

Next up: a first time matchup with a newly fortified Black and we can’t wait to see how that one shakes out.
